Hello, friends! These days, scrapbooking comes in all shapes and sizes! We love the traditional 12x12 size layouts, but sometimes, it makes more sense to scale a project down. Today, our Creative Team shares their small-scale scrapbooking Iand tips for making it work for you. A smaller canvas, like a traveler's notebook, is perfect for Amy! "My scrapbooking style has changed several times since I started memory keeping in the 1990s and continues to change. There are many reasons – product availability, trends, my season of life. Most recently, I discovered a love for documenting my stories on a smaller scale with travelers' notebooks. Travelers notebooks come in various sizes – passport, personal, standard – and they are perfect for telling short stories, making lists and using your paper crafting supplies in the process! This month I was inspired by Cocoa Daisy’s “Three Things” Journaling prompts and decided to set up a travelers notebook to document my Three Things responses. I am using an A6 (4x5.75”) travelers notebook I picked up on Amazon, and I pulled supplies from the Cactus Moon Collection. In the layout I’m sharing here today I pulled bits and pieces from a variety of kits - Cactus Moon Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit, Cactus Moon Planner Dashboard Kit, Classified: Memory Keeping Kit, Cactus Moon Planner Add-On Kit, and the Daisy Add On Sticker Kit – to document three things that make me happy and three things that make me prickly. Although I love adding photos to my layouts – even my listing layouts, not every story or layout has or needs a photograph. For this layout, I selected a 3x4 quote card from the Cactus Moon Planner Add-On Kit. I loved the quote and thought it would be great to use it in lieu of a photo. I then selected a Cactus Moon Planner Dashboard Kit as my background paper, as they are the perfect size to cut it in half to make two pages for an A6 TN. I cut a piece of another dashboard to add another layer. I loved the striped backing from this month’s packaging and decided it would be a perfect addition to my layout. I selected a couple of die-cut pieces, decorative stickers, and my favorite alpha stickers to round out my supplies. I typed up my lists on my computer…and YES - I spelled gestures WRONG!!! I was going to fix it, but I had already printed and adhered it, so decided not to. My boys have come to know I am NOT a great speller! When they see the incorrect spelling – and they will catch the error - it will start a conversation…one where I will probably get made fun of…but it’s all good, and it will not make me prickly! Check out my process in this reel on my Instagram!" Marsha loves scaling down her scrapbook layouts inside a Simple Dori. I love using the Simple Dori traveler's notebooks for memory keeping. The designs in this month's Cactus Moon Collection are beautiful, and this spread came together quickly using mainly items from the Cactus Moon Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. I used lots of chipboard pieces for this layout, focusing on the chipboard tags. I rarely mind bulk in my notebooks, but it's easy to remove a few layers of the chipboard if you prefer thinner embellishments. A puffy word sticker from the Cactus Moon Modern Memory Keeping Kit and alpha stickers (from a previous kit) were perfect for creating the title. I also added lots of stamping with the fun border stamps from the Cactus Moon Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. I layered some of the beautiful patterned papers behind my photo and embellished it simply with a phrase sticker from the Cactus Moon Classic Sticker Kit and a chipboard heart from a previous kit. A label stamp and border stamp, along with a chipboard tag, were perfect for creating a small cluster at the bottom of the page. I love how this Simple Dori spread turned out using the Cactus Moon Collection!" Scrapbooking a trip is so easy when you scale down the format, prep your pages ahead of time, and give the gift of memory keeping to a friend. The Cactus Moon Collection could not have been more perfect for documenting an upcoming trip to the desert. I had three goals with this project. First, I wanted to make two inserts from one Simple Dori. Second, I wanted to prep several pages for easy memory keeping as we are on the trip. Third, I wanted to gift one of the inserts to my friend, whose birthday we are celebrating on this trip!  Creating two inserts was a snap! I pulled the staples out, split up the pages so that each insert had a mix of blank and patterned pages. To make the cover for the second insert, I used paper from the Cactus Moon Classified: Memory Keeping Kit and trimmed it to the height of the insert. I folded the paper around the insert and measured the width with the insert folded, to ensure the paper covered the pages.  Preparing pages was also a breeze, thanks to the catalog of instruction sheets and sketches I have saved from the Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit each month. I pulled a few that I was inspired by and managed to prep several pages in one crafting session. Check out the video below to see me flip through these inserts!
