The New Chapter Collection is all about starting fresh! This collection includes bold colors perfectly contrasted by artistic black accents. Several patterns include splashes of paint with black ink drips, creating a fun mixed media feel without the mess.  You can even do your own mixed media design with the black paint found in the Classified: Memory Keeping Kit. Adding little black accents to colorful spreads creates visual interest without the need for extra layers.
In today’s post, we’ve asked our Design Team to create a layout with black as their accent. Let’s see what they created! Natasha shares a memory planning spread with us, using some of the new sticker kit subscriptions.
"I am a huge fan of alpha stickers, so you can imagine my excitement to see two sets of alpha stickers in the NEW Daisy Add-On Sticker Kit. I wanted to make the alphas of the New Chapter Add-On Sticker Kit the star of the show, highlighting my accents of black, throughout my memory planning layout.
The multiple variations of black alphas in the kit allowed me to have a consistent color pulled throughout my layout, each with its own character. This adds visual interest all while making a cohesive look.
I recommend trying this out on your next project as it's such a great way to create fun, easy, and beautiful projects that highlight your accent color. If you would like to see my memory planning process, head to my YouTube channel."
Alpha’s are a great way to add interest to your memory planning pages. We also love Natasha’s use of the vellum sheet from the Traveler’s Notebook Memory Kit to add an extra insert into her weekly spread.
The black doodle washi is the perfect black accent around the page, too. Next, we have a 12x12 layout from Jennie, who uses a bold title and to make a splash on her page.
I love black for the, you guessed it, contrast! As a big fan of light colors and pastels in my memory keeping, black creates an undeniable pop. Even better, the New Chapter Collection has the perfect amount of black and contrast to make my projects happy!
To make the title, I used the papers from the New Chapter Modern Memory Keeping Kit and trimmed the letters with my Silhouette cutting machine. I wanted some black around the page as well, so I used the paint from the New Chapter Classified: Memory Keeping Kit to add black drips around the cluster of enamel dots and die cuts.
We love how Jennie repeated the black outline of the title with the black border of the page. Jennie also provided plenty of white space on her page, allowing her black accents to stand out.
We can’t wait to see how you use your New Chapter Kits to tell your stories. If you are sharing your designs, make sure to tag @cocoa_daisy on social media or post to the Cocoa Daisy Fan Page.
