Hello, Friends!
There is something so striking about black accents on a colorful layout. The pop of black can come in the form of a stamp, paint drops, rub-on's paper. In today's post, we asked our Memory Keeping Team to design a layout using black as an accent and we think you are going to love what they created!
Evy used several elements to accent her spread with black.
"Black is a color that I almost always use in my projects, I love the contrast of black with both fluorescent colors and more delicate colors like the green of the Tranquility Collection.
For this layout I used the black polka dot paper present in the Tranquility Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. The background is a white cardstock on which I created a watercolor effect with the distress oxides and then added the polka dots with a stencil.
Then I added some mixed media black stamps and played with lots of embellishments. I used the rub-ons together with the chipboards and stickers Memory Keeping Sticker Kit. The title is a mix of alpha puffy stickers from the Tranquility Modern Memory Keeping Kit paired with a set from a past kit. Don't you agree that black goes with everything?" We love Evy's use of black in the spread, including the mix of stamps and rub-on's. The polka dot paper really makes the alpha's in the title pop. Tearing the paper edges provides a more organic feel to this layout.
Aimee layered rub-on's and stamps to create beautiful black highlights for this design.
"Hi there Cocoa Daisies! Do you ever find yourself returning to a certain treatment or color on your pages? That’s me and black! I can never get away from it — whether it’s black splatter or embellishments I just find that pops of black give so much depth and emotion to a page.
For this traveler's notebook layout, I used a ton of delicate black rub-ons from both the Tranquility Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kitand the Tranquility Modern Memory Keeping Kit to make a faux mixed media statement page for my photo to sit on.
I also selected a page in myTranquility Simple Dorithat I thought tied in nicely and it was a bonus that I absolutely loved the quote.
To add even more pops of black and interest I added some of the beautiful kit stamps from the Tranquility Modern Memory Keeping Kitand black acrylic paint splatter. What do you think? Do you enjoy pops of black? Until next time — happy crafting."
Aimee's use of black in this spread is gorgeous, especially the cluster of stamps and rub-ons layered behind her photo. To give the page more visual impact, consider printing your photo in black and white, as Aimee did.
Casie anchors her colorful spread with black.
"I wanted a way to highlight all the colors of this gorgeous kit, but also make the scripture sticker pop!
Enter a repeating shape pattern & voila! Hexagons on the left side of the notebook showcase all the beautiful pattern papers.
And on the right side, pops of black make the scripture journal card stand out. I finished it off with a few stamping details in black and silver." We love how Casie's scripture sticker from the Tranquility Bible Journaling Kit pops next to the colorful hexagons.
