Hello, friends!
Inspiration is all around us. Many of us open our Cocoa Daisy Kits and instantly know how we will use the items in our memory keeping, journals, and planners. But it doesn't hurt to have a little extra inspiration, don't you think? Every Modern Memory Keeping Kit and Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit comes with a special set of instructions created by Christine, the owner of Cocoa Daisy. If you don't subscribe to these kits, don't worry! You can still access these instruction sheets on the website under "Digital Downloads". We asked the creative team to use a sketch to kick start their creation for this blog post, and we think you are going to love what you see!
Natasha pulled inspiration from the previous month's sketch and seamlessly mixed two collections together.
"Layers, layers, and more layers, that’s my jam! I knew I wanted to scraplift Christine’s sketch entitled “day by day” from the Doodles & Dashes Instruction Sheet in the Doodles and Dashes Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kitusing a mixture of the black hand-drawn elements from the Doodles & Dashes Collectionpaired with all the warmth of the Umber & Gold Collection. Who says black and brown don’t go together?!
For this layout, I used staples, Ranger’s Glossy Accents glue medium, and some foam adhesive. By using a variety of ways to adhere the papers onto each other I was able to create added dimension to my layers which I think just work so well for this style of layout.
I am so grateful to have the monthly sketches as an ongoing resource for inspiration- especially when you get a chance to blend a few collections!"
Traci shares how to embrace a sketch and make it all your own.
"I adored the sketch from the Umber & Gold Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit, but you know I also love to EMBELLISH so I took Christine's sketch and added to it!
I chose to use the color-blocked paper from the Umber & Gold Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kitas my paper strips under my photo because I really enjoyed how bold it made that area look.
For the leaf wreath, I decided to make it a bit larger by using the wreath stamp from the Umber & Gold Modern Memory Keeping Kitas my base and then building out with the leaves from the subscriber printables because they were a bit larger than the leaves included in the die cuts and stamps.
Check out my process video to see this design come together!"

Get double the inspiration from one sketch by changing the page alignment, as Marsha shows us here.
"Hey, Cocoa Daisy friends! Marsha here with my take on Christine’s sketch from the Umber & Gold Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit Instruction Sheet. I love using sketches because they are such a great way to jumpstart your creativity!
I chose to rotate the sketch and my Umber & Gold Simple Dori to create this layout. I followed the sketch by adding stamping to the center of the page with the wreath stamp from the Umber & Gold Modern Memory Keeping Kitand some dark rose ink. I decided to expand the design by stamping the wreath two more times with light pink ink. Next, I included more stamping, along with chipboard pumpkins and enamel dots to complete the page.
For the other side of the spread, I chose a patterned paper page in the Simple Dori that mimicked the layers in the sketch. I layered my photo over a color-blocked patterned paper and added the title using the puffy alpha stickers from the Umber & Gold Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit.
I used chipboard pieces, die cuts, and enamel dots to add layers and interest to the page. This layout was so quick and easy to create using this sketch!"
