Florally Yours
Hello Cocoa Daisy friends, Today we are exploring the power of floral elements in memory keeping and the various ways you can use flowers to accent your story. Flowers have a universal appeal in many areas of our lives and this includes memory keeping. There is something magical about the way a layout with flowers "speaks" to us. This is especially true with photos of flowers and the flowers we dry and press as keepsakes from important event. Our design team has created three very different layouts using flowers as the main embellishment. Casie will start us off with a sweet pocket page. "Hi Daisy fans! Casie here with a flower-filled layout using August's Backyard Blooms kit. As you can hear me chat about in the video linked below, I am changing up my memory planning style for the remainder of 2020. I moved to a 6x8 album and am excited to return to pocket page scrapbooking." "For this layout, I embellished the journaling week on one-page planner printable with a bunch of floral die-cuts. I love the pops of bright colors and floral accents. I backed the planner page with one of the pattern papers to unify all the colors." "One of my favorite ways to add color and a title to photos within the pockets is the label shaped die cuts. I love how it brings color, words, and dimension to the photos within the pockets. Within the TNMK kit, this month was fantastic phrase stickers that I used to add a word sentiment on the colorful photo. I love these phrase stickers and you will be seeing me use more of those in upcoming projects." "Thanks for joining me sharing floral fun within memory planning. And here is my video walkthrough of the design." We love the way Casie combined a pocket page with a planner page to create this layout. It's simply lovely and we adore the phrases she chose as little reminders to enjoy life! Next we have a traditional 12x12 design by Jil. "I had so much fun embellishing my page with stickers from the Backyard Blooms kit! When I say stickers, I mean the new adhesive-backed die-cuts, puffy stickers, chipboard and phrase stickers from the classified kit--memory keeping edition, stickers from the sticker kit, glitter flowers, and of course washi tape." "I began by matting my photo on a stack of paper from the kits. I used the larger paper in the planner kit to run along the right edge of my 12x12 layout. I even fussy-cut some flowers from the patterned paper for a flourish off the left corner of my photo." "From there I stuck down all the bright, cheery embellishments from the kit, finishing with cascading confetti made of sequins, puffy dots, and ink mist." "I loved documenting this story of a recent sunny, backyard get-together with friends I hadn't seen in months because we had been quarantined in our own homes. This colorful, exuberant page will help me remember how good it felt to be with friends again!" Jil's clusters with stickers and the way she sprinkled the flower gems and puffy dots draws our eyes through her design. It's such a fun layout and a great example of how to use stickers from a variety of our kits! Our final design is from Brande and she is using our To the Sea collection. Brande created a mixed media design and she fussy cut the beautiful hibiscus flowers from the kit papers. The cork embelishments are the perfect compliment to Brande's fussy cut flowers and her bold title. We love Brande's mixed media design and the way she incorporated our glitter dots in her layout. It's super pretty! And did you notice her fussy cutting wasn't intricate. Using a white background really took the emphasis off the white area around the flowers Brande cut out so the color of these beauties stood out but didn't overpower the photo collage. Please share your memory keeping and planner designs with our kits in our private facebook group or by tagging @cocoa_daisy on social media. Thank you for joining us today! ~Robin
