Happy Friday friends,
Are you always behind the camera or do you get in the photos too? Today we want to encourage you to document your beautiful self. Design team members Audrey and Sabrina are sharing layouts that put them front and center in the story. Let’s begin with Audrey’s story.
“Hello beautiful friends. What better way to welcome in 2020 then to do a "Dear Beautiful You" letter to yourself? I did mine in a 12x12 traditional layout. I always start my layouts with a loose sketch of my end design. Looking at my sketch, you will see I changed it up a bit in my final layout, but kept the essential design.
I started my layout with some paint splatter from my stash to break up the white space. After it dried, I placed the photo of me with my law school diplomas and some of the cards from the pocket kit, paper from the memory keeping kit and pages from the traveler's notebook that I took apart. After I had my foundation done, I went through the process of choosing embellishments: Chipboard, die cuts, washi and stickers.
The embellishments are clustered together, using different sizes creating a fun and playful design. I really wanted to use those awesome rub ons that came in the kit. I have learned through trial and error that it is best to cut out the rub on that you want to use so you don't accidentally rub too much and add an additional rub on. Also, if you place a a rub on over a glossy photo, it will stick without a lot of rubbing so make sure you know where you want it.
I cut out the words "Beautiful You" using paper from the Traveler's Notebook kit on my Silhouette. Once I had all my embellishments placed, I used pop dots from my stash on some of the die cuts to give both height and dimension to the layout.
I finished the layout with journaling on the left side using the awesome pen from the planner kit and some of those epoxy dots that came with the traveler's notebook and memory keeping pocket kits. I would love to see your take on a Dear Beautiful You letter!! Cheers!“
Isn’t she lovely! We love that big title and Audrey’s letter to herself too.
Sabrina is sharing her Travelers Notebook layout. “For this assignment the theme was “beautiful you” so I knew I wanted incorporate a quote. I found a quote on Pinterest and decided to use the Noted alphabets on one side of the page to make the quote a focal part of my TN project.”
The photo I chose was taken as part of fellow creative team member Traci Reed’s #everydayselfielove and I took this photo for the pattern prompt. I am absolutely loving this challenge and I definitely encourage you to check it out.
I layered papers behind my photo that were mostly pink. One of the layers is actually a journaling card with a pen image I wanted to include. Layering journaling cards with photos is a perfect way to use them any memory keeping layout.”
I also used my 2 inch circle punch to punch out three circles to help create the visual triangle and more color. I even took one of the circles and cut it to show on both sides of the paper. Next I added the green and purple alphabets plus the alphabet from the word sticker kit to create my quote.
A pretty simple and fast spread but it definitely captures every day selfie love and being happy with myself!“
We hope our design team has inspired you to get in front of the camera and document the beautiful that is you! Please share your “beautiful you” stories with us in our private Memory Keeping Facebook group.
Enjoy your weekend!
