Elizabeth Jorgenson, "Creative Journaling Your Monthly Wrap-Up"
Hello friends! Elizabeth here from @thejoyfulsojourn on instagram and youtube, to share with you a fun way to do a bit of journaling and memory keeping in your planner! I've been neglecting the monthly summary pages in my planner because they were too structured and I didn't feel like I had much to write. Enter the great collage and wreath, turning a planner into a journal and memory keeper.
Starting with the left page, I reformatted my monthly reflection layout to be an explosion of different mediums from the journaling kit and stamp subscription! By placing the paper stickers over journaling prompts I didn't need, and laying down washi, stamps, and photos to fill the page in, you'd never know what layout was hiding underneath.
I was a little nervous to mix so many textures at first, but once I started, I couldn't stop. And I had a lot of fun! Stamps and stickers flying everywhere, adding pictures of my daughter, and even taking a pen and adding 'stitching' around the page. Don't be afraid to layer stamps and stickers - more on that soon!
The right page of this layout is a graph grid, so I had a lot of room for play here! When I saw the lined florals in the stamp subscription, I knew a wreath was in order! I started first with the largest leaf stamp and created an oval shape that was left open on the right side (think of it as a clock, with no leaves stamped from 1 pm-4 pm). I then laid down colored floral stickers in the empty side space to add a vibrant pop of color.
With the basic shape completed with leaves and flower stickers, I filled it in with flower stamps, even adding stamps on top of the paper flowers. I absolutely love the detail here and I'll say it again for those in the back! Don't be afraid to stamp on top of your paper stickers and to create more texture and layers.
This wreath was the perfect frame for a brief summary of the month. I used a dual brush pen (Tombow N89, my favorite grey for making lines) to add depth and structure within the wreath, then added a brief reflection on the month.
Together these two pages are just the right amount of memory-keeping and journaling for me, right in the heart of my planner! I hope this gives you inspiration for using your journaling kit and stamp subscription to incorporate journaling and memory-keeping into your planner too!
