Hello and welcome to March!
Today we are exploring using a list as the basis for your memory keeping layout with our Orchard Path kits. Documenting a story using a list is a great way to highlight key items in your story versus journaling. DT members Audrey and Rachel are sharing their ideas for this theme in 12x12 and the Happy Planner mediums.
Audrey asks, "Do you chose a word each year to carry you through the year? I do, and my word this year is HEALTH. Each month I will create a 12x12 layout celebrating my word. This month, the new Orchard Path collection includes awesome dialogue die cuts which I used to make a list of what I want from my word in 2020."
"I started with a photoshoot of me in a very neutral outfit, my husband was my photographer. I then isolated myself in photoshop, cut out the background, blew up my photo to 8.5x11 and fussy cut it out for the center of my layout. Before I adhered my full body photo to the paper, I used watercolors from my stash to paint the background of the paper pink, as opposed to leaving it white which would conflict with the dialogue die cuts. I also placed some of the washi tape from the kits on the bottom of the page as a foundation. Using patterned paper and my Silhouette, I cut out the word HEALTH, which I elevated with pop dots from my stash and placed over my feet."
“Next I placed the dialogue die cuts around my shape and wrote inside what aspects of HEALTH I want to focus on this year. I embellished one of the dialogs with the green bow tie paperclip. I love how it provides depth and texture to the page.”
“In between the dialogue die cuts, I added other embellishments: chipboard, word sentiment die cuts, and stickers to create a story. Finally, I finished this layout with enamel dots which I cannot get enough of. I would love to hear how you celebrate your word. Cheers!!”
A truly darling layout and wonderful way to document goals! Next we have Rachel’s Happy Planner design and video.
“I am sharing another spread in my memory planner. The theme for today is “Make a list" so I decided to use the (often under utilized) sidebar to make a list of this week’s highlights. I really liked listing out my highlights in one place on the page because it meant I had more room to decorate the boxes. I may use this style more often!
“For this spread, I designed my layout to have the row of boxes, rather than the column of boxes, sharing the same memory. On the left page, I documented Wednesday in the top row, my husband’s birthday in the middle row, and Monday evening in the bottom row. While I love using the stickers from the Memory Keeping Sticker Kit for these pages, I also love trimming down the Pocket Cards, too.
I used my big happy planner punch to make the decoration for the top box on Tuesday, and did a little bit of trimming to the horizontal pocket card across the boxes on Tuesday and Wednesday. Even though I am not a pocket page scrapbooker, I can still use and alter pocket cards for the format I am using!”
There were so many beautiful elements in this month’s Orchard Path kits, that I wanted to have areas in my spread just for the pretty embellishments, like the top and bottom boxes on Thursday. To finish off the pages, I incorporated phrases from the die cuts and stamp sets to perfectly capture the moments of my week.
“If you want to see how these pages came together, head to my YouTube Channel to see a Memory Plan With Me video!”
We hope you enjoyed these examples of using lists to document stories in your memory keeping. The dialog die cuts in the Orchard Path kits are the perfect starting element for your designs. Please share your list layouts with us on Facebook or by tagging @cocoa_daisy on social media.
Happy crafting!
