Nathatlie DeSousa: Create a Pocket on Your Scrapbooking Spread!

Hi there! It’s Nathalie with today’s inspiration for documenting your Fall days using the beautiful October Glow Creative Kit and October Mood Stamp Set. I decided to use these to create a new entry in my October Glow SimpleDaisy Notebook. I loved how this combination was perfect to bring my story together.

I wanted to bring the layered mixed media feel of some of the pieces in this kit, so I opted to build my layers combining ink, stamps, and paper. The 6x8 papers in the October Glow Creative Kit were the starting point for this page. I simply ripped two opposite corners of one of the papers and used them to create the corner embellishments in the spread.

The small stamp and ink pad in the October Glow Creative Kit helped to distress the ripped paper pieces. Once those were in place, I decided to use the small manila envelope (the die cuts are inside this envelope) to help me house my photos in it. So, I added a few rub-ons on it, as well as a large die-cut card, before placing it on the spread. The cute ephemera pieces help to bring the sense of Fall to this side of the spread.

Once again, I reached for the 6x8 paper pad in the October Glow Creative Kit to create frames for my photos. Adding small tabs (from the Ephemera pack in the kit) helps to make them accessible in my October Glow SimpleDaisy Notebook. The small sentiments in the tags were also created with the October Mood Stamp Set; it was all about masking the stamp to only get the small sentiments for each tab.

I kept the photos simple so that they would become the highlight of the spread without taking away from all the layers behind them.

For the other side of the spread, I decided to use the large repetitive sentiment block in the October Mood stamp set to help me extend the mixed media look of the corner onto the rest of the page. I added a few more sentiments from the same stamp set, but used black ink to make them stand out and match the sentiment in front of the envelope.
I just love how this spread in my SimpleDaisy Notebook came together with the October Glow Creative kit and October Mood exclusive Stamp set am looking forward to seeing what you will create with it.
