Nathatlie DeSousa: Create a Pocket on Your Scrapbooking Spread!
I wanted to bring the layered mixed media feel of some of the pieces in this kit, so I opted to build my layers combining ink, stamps, and paper. The 6x8 papers in the
October Glow Creative Kit were the starting point for this page. I simply ripped two opposite corners of one of the papers and used them to create the corner embellishments in the spread.
The small stamp and ink pad in the
October Glow Creative Kit helped to distress the ripped paper pieces. Once those were in place, I decided to use the small manila envelope (the die cuts are inside this envelope) to help me house my photos in it. So, I added a few rub-ons on it, as well as a large die-cut card, before placing it on the spread. The cute ephemera pieces help to bring the sense of Fall to this side of the spread.
I kept the photos simple so that they would become the highlight of the spread without taking away from all the layers behind them.
For the other side of the spread, I decided to use the large repetitive sentiment block in the October Mood stamp set to help me extend the mixed media look of the corner onto the rest of the page. I added a few more sentiments from the same stamp set, but used black ink to make them stand out and match the sentiment in front of the envelope.
