Hello, friends!

Traci Reed: Combine 12x12 and Pocket Page Layouts with the Willows Kits!
I created this pocket page to coordinate with my 12x12 layout . Between the two pages, I wanted to strike a balance between showcasing standout photosand capturing all the little details of our adventure. My 12x12 layout serves as the focal point, featuring my favorite photos with bold design elements, while the pocket page allows me to include even more images and journaling without overwhelming the overall composition.
Creating a coordinating pocket page layout to complement my original design was all about maintaining consistency in patterns, colors, and embellishments. Using the Willows Scrapbooking Kit, scrap paper from the Willows 12x12 Paper Add-On (leftover from my 12x12 layout), and Willows Pocket Cards Add-on, I pulled in many of the same elements from my first layout to ensure a cohesive look. The storybook-inspired illustrations, vintage-style maps, and earthy greens and yellows carried over seamlessly, tying both pages together while allowing the pocket format to shine in its way.
One of the key ways I connected the two layouts was by repeating the striped patterned paper and torn paper technique. On the pocket page, I used smaller strips of the striped design to create visual flow, echoing the layering from my original layout. The large title from the first page, which I altered with ink, inspired the way I customized some of the text-based journal cards, using the same warm color palette to add depth. Small embellishments like twine, die cuts, and tiny stamped details helped reinforce the whimsical feel, making both pages feel like part of the same story.
Since pocket pages offer a more structured format, I used them to highlight additional photos and journaling that didn’t fit on the original layout. The journal cards provided a title pocket for the story, while small accents like the frog, banners, and compass elements added personality without overwhelming the design. The result is a spread that balances creativity and function—each page standing on its own while complementing the other beautifully.
By carrying over patterns, embellishments, and techniques, I was able to create a scrapbook spread that feels unified while taking advantage of the unique possibilities each format offers. The Willows Scrapbooking Kit made it easy to blend the two styles, ensuring that this memory-filled project has a consistent and charming aesthetic from start to finish.
