Tai Cortes: Cohesive Pocket Pages

Hello crafty friends! It is Tai and I am back with a layout using the gorgeous Cozy Season Pocket Cards featuring ‘the girl’ illustrations on them. I simply thought they were so beautifully drawn and had to use them in a pocket page layout. Please do not be afraid to use these elements in your story telling. I think they make a layout very unique. For this project I am using pieces from the Cozy Season Scrapbooking Kit with the Cozy Season Pocket Cards Add-On Kit

There are two ‘girl’ cards in the set and it is wise to use them together, in my opinion. It will make the two page layout. One card lent itself to hold the journaling and the other was more decorate, so I put one on each side. To help make the layout harmonious, I went through the rest of the cards searching for two more that were ‘matching’. The cards with the leaves fulfilled that purpose.

I selected my photos and printed them in black and white. This is helpful tip when you want the products in your kits to be the star of your project and not your photos. My story is an afternoon at my local dog park with my doodle, Maui, and the colors in the actual photos did not work well with my layout. Hence, printing them in black and white did not compete with this developing layout.

I enjoy decorating my cards a bit further, by adding rub ons, washi tape, chipboard, stickers and the puffy alphas, to make each one unique. As you can see, I made one into a title card for the layout and I even added washi and stickers to my photos so they match the rest of the cards. This collection did not come with enamel dots, but luckily the bronze and gold ones from the Big Sky Collection matched perfectly. Do not be afraid to mix your collections from time to time. Those enamel dots added a bit of metallic to this project and it was the final finishing touch.

I hope you are inspired to use your pocket cards to tell your stories.
