All About Tags!
Hello friends,
Our challenge for the design team today was to create a layout using the tags and other components of our kits. Jill starts us off with a beautiful and creative way to use tags in your layouts.
"This is the first spread I've made in my Heidi Swapp storyline chapters scrapbook, and it was such fun to use the bright and cheery Up & Away kit! I altered the kit tag slightly to fit my layout better and really just to show that it's easy to adhere a colorful reinforcement ring, to trim the tag down, and to make it work with your page."
"My other tags are housed in little paper holders that I incorporated with the layered kit papers. This design allowed me to write about each of the members of my little pack during this unprecedented time while also keeping the journaling with the photo to which it refers."
"The twine in the kit was a bright way to dress up each tag!"
Jil's ideas for her tags are also great tips! Tags are a wonderful design feature and can be used to hold your photos, add an interactive element to your layout and frame photos too. Next we have a design from DT member Rachel.
"Tags are so much fun and versatile! For this memory keeping project, I decided to use one of the tags for some hidden journaling! A fun layout and super easy to put together! During this unusual time, I have some different stories I want to make sure are documented, and this format is such a fun way to do that in my happy planner."
"To start, I punched one of the papers with my Happy Planner disc punch so I that I could add this layout to my happy planner. Next, I took the Kraft bag that the Memory Keeping Classified kit came and made pocket with it. I kept the rough edge on the pocket opening because I liked the look, but you could also trim it to have a clean edge."
I pulled a Pocket Memory Keeping card and place it on the paper diagonal from the Kraft bag pocket, overlapping them just at the corners. I then adhered everything to the paper, including the photo. I outlined the photo and the pocket card with a black pen and added a few stickers to embellish the layout.
"For the tag, I used the twine to make a little tassel for the top. Not only is it cute, but it makes it easier to pull the tag out of the pocket. I had an extra photo, so I added that to the front of the tag and used the back of the tag for my journaling."
"To finish the tag, I included a few embellishments that helped tell the story in a few words, and that’s it! I love being able to add all kinds of the things into my memory planner, including layouts like this!"
Rachel's design with her tag is another great way to add hidden photos to your layout. Sometime we don't want certain photos (or thoughts) on display but we do want to include them in our stories and this is a great way to do that. Tags can be used to document a longer story too. And don't forget there are many other creative ways to use our tags including as bookmarks, gift packaging, or pages in an interactive mini album, just to name a few.
