A Focus on the New Chapters Papers

A Focus on the New Chapters Papers
Hello, Friends! Each month, the Memory Keeping Kit Papers include the color scheme and patterns found in the Memory Keeping Kits. These 6X8 papers are the perfect size for adding directly to an album, trimming down to pocket card size, or punching shapes to create your own embellishments. If you are a memory planner like me, I love trimming the papers down to fit the daily boxes in my memory planner. You can also create photo mattes with the papers or create texture on your spreads by ripping and layering the papers on top of each other. We challenged our designers to create layouts that focus on different ways to utilize the papers. Let's see what they came up with. First, Audrey shows us a fun way to combine several of the papers from the New Chapter Collection into one beautiful design. Because the stamp sets focus on lines, I decided a linear design was the way to go. No photo description available. I started by cutting the papers found in the memory keeping kits in 1/2 inch lines, I picked the patterns that complement each other best and that would show up on a white background. I then weaved the strips loosely together to create a pattern. Notice how I didn't make a perfect box, rather I let the strips be a bit messy to complement the stamps. I also kept my photo small to highlight the lattice paper design that I did. The picture is still a focus, but not the only one. The stamps from the Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping Kit are so fun and I am sure I will use them a lot. I used Versafine ink and repeated stamped around the page. I accidentally got ink on my fingers which got on the page (see bottom left corner), so I smeared some ink in the top right corner to balance out that mistake. I decided not to journal on this page, rather let the sentiments from the embellishments tell the story, which is welcoming 2021 and the hope that this year has to offer. We love Audrey's lattice design with the papers. This is a great way to use up your paper scraps, too! Next, Jennie shows us that having a "less is more" mentality can create a design with a big impact. Image may contain: text that says 'BEKD always plan. Instead, I decided to go for a totally different approach. Image may contain: text that says 'TORKY BEKIND BE You don't always READ need a plan. cocoa 0 daisy jennie meganey 2021 MEMORY KEEPER' Instead of using more, I decided to use LESS, where the papers I did use were the focal point of the layout. Here the main use of papers creates a bullseye for my large circle photo and extra attention is brought to the papers with the added machine stitching. Image may contain: text that says 'DOCUMENTED DOCUMENTED cocoa daisy jenniemeganven 2021 MEMORY KEEPER' I continued with punched circles from the colorful patterned papers to accent the bullseye!" Jennie's design is a wonderful way to incorporate the bold patterns and colors from the papers without dominating the page. Adding the punch paper elements provides the perfect amount of embellishment for this minimalist layout. Which is your favorite paper from the New Chapter Memory Keeping Kits?
