Documenting (little) You with From the Garden Kits

Hello, friends!

Sometime the theme of a collection inspires us to document our early days. Those childhood photos deserve a place in our scrapbooks, too!

Linda Jordan: 6x8 Memory Keeping Spread

Hi! It's Linda and I'm here today to share a fun spread I created using the From the Garden Collection. I love documenting in 6x8 because it's the perfect size to include one photo + some words. For this project, the kit inspired me to pull out a photo of me as a child and document my love of the outdoors.

I was super inspired by all the circles in the collection and wanted to use that repetition as a design element in my spread. I collected a few of the circles from the kits: chipboard, die-cuts, and a vellum circle, as my starting place. Then I pulled out my circle punches to create a few additional circles from the 6x8 papers found in the From the Garden Modern Memory Keeping Kit. I created a vertical column of circles along the edge of my photo and then added other embellishments to complete this focal design element.

For the right side of the spread, I wanted to include some longer typed journaling. I was absolutely obsessed with the vellum in the From the Garden Stationary Kit and knew I wanted to make it the base of my page. To keep the journaling from covering up too much of the paper, I typed it in a column on white paper and added it to the left side of the page.

I completed the spread by adding one circle punched out of patterned paper tucked behind my journaling to tie the two pages together. Repeating the circle shape on the right page helps make this spread cohesive. I also love that the photo of me is positioned so I am facing towards the center of the spread which helps guide your eyes to the focal design element and journaling. This spread will now live in my 6x8 mini me album for this year, I'm super excited to have this story told! I hope this post inspires you to pull out your From the Garden Collection to create a 6x8 spread as well.
